Field workshop summary: Terrassa Augmentada

The field workshop summary is a set of interdisciplinary teching and learning activities, designed to check whether students have achieved, and to what extent the objectives set out in several areas of study and whether they are capable of applying the basic skills worked in different subjects for the resolution of issues and problems related to practical life. It is an activity that encourages teamwork, research and interaction with the environment. The field workshop summary is held at the end of the school year in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Grade of Compulsory Secondary Education.

This year, students of Torre del Palau High School, aged 13-14 years old (1st Grade), devoted their field workshop summary to Terrassa Augmentada. On 12th June, a total of 100 students, splitted in 5 groups of 20 students, were guided around Terrassa by teachers and museum staff.

The augmented reality app served as guiding theme to discover more about Terrassa past and present, and from different perspectives: art, society, architecture, technology, etc. Extra activities on the relevant subjects took place  in the classroom before and after the field visit.

The activity was also an opportunity to test Terrassa Augmentada. Isolated technical problems were encountered with specific devices, and personally addressed and fixed afterwards by the app developers. Besides, 87 students answered a survey about the app, with an average rate of 7/10. The favorite feature of students was augmented reality and its possibility to compare present and ancient pictures of Terrassa.
