After a successful launch last year, the internationally renowned art institution will host the exhibition awards for the second time on 13th July 2012. The call is open for participants from all over the world from the 12th of March to the 11th of May 2012. The projects can be electronically submitted directly to ZKM.

The “AppArtAward” is an innovative award promoted by the German Art Center ZMK, the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in the city of Karlsruhe. The main objective is to collect the best artworks in App or Games format for Smartphone and Tablets and then to expose them in a yearly exhibition that will show how art can be creatively integrated within a technological context.

Gameforge, online-game publisher based in Karlsruhe is one of the world-market leaders of its sector and is sponsoring the current edition in the category “Game Art”“By sponsoring the ZKM AppArtAwards, we aim at encouraging independent creative game developers in their work” said Alexander Roesner, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gameforge.

Gameforge offers a prize of 10.000 Euros and contributes with its commitment to the development of the creative, cultural and economic potential of mobile-games. Furthermore, the Product Director, Andre Potgeter, will have an active role in the evaluation of the received applications, as jury member.

Besides the Game-Oriented Award, the “AppArtAward” offers two other categories dedicated to products developed in the field of new media: the “Artistic Innovation” Award is intended for all the innovative Apps that use the creative scope of the medium, while the “Special Prize for Cloud Art” addressed all the developers who implement the possibilities of cloud computing technology in a creative and artistic way and thus demonstrate their ability for forward-thinking.
